Mindful Yoga brings together the physical practice of hatha yoga and the awareness practice of mindfulness mediation. We pay attention to what alignment works for our body while noticing how we are relating to the experience of the pose. By doing this, we begin to let go of our self-criticizing, judgmental mind and cultivate a wholesome connection between mind and body. Payment is by donation for all classes offered at Common Ground.

This class is for people who have attended Level 1 Mindful Yoga and have developed the body awareness necessary to move into more challenging physical yoga poses with ease in the mind.

We explore physical alignment that results in both physical and mental freedom. In this way, the poses provide an opportunity to consciously cultivate a wholesome, joyful relationship with the body.

Mindful Yoga & Yoga Nidra - Rochester, Minn.

at Calvary Episcopal Church

In the gentle, energizing and refreshing class, you will be guided through yoga poses that relax the body and awaken the mind.

The 90-minute mindful yoga session is followed by 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra, a deeply restful, guided meditation.

The class is offered on a donation basis. It is suitable for all levels — beginner to advanced.

This class is offered on the second Saturday of the month.

Gentle Yoga and Deep Relaxation

at Common Ground Meditation Center

In this class we study and practice relaxation techniques that allow us to “let go” into a deep state of stillness. The result is unification and peacefulness in all aspects of our being. First, we do some gentle yoga poses and yogic breathing to purify the body and draw the focus inward. Then we recline on the floor and are guided into a deep relaxation - a state called Yoga Nidra, where the mind is awake, calm, and alert and the body is completely free of tension. Effects of practicing Yoga Nidra can be better sleep, freedom from anxiety, and increased mental clarity.
